Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but didn't LOVE anything, the food was good to decent but definitely not mind blowing to any extent.
I would say the serving sizes are a little small compared to the price you are being charged (I know this is a higher end spot, but still)
The drinks were decent, nothing to rave about. I think the experience was certainly very good, loved the open kitchen concept and the atmosphere was lively for a off season Thursday night.
A good not great spot.
This place is for gourmands not people who got used to eating huge portions at Italian restaurants and get the regular pasta and meatballs or pizza.
This place is for a gourmand who appreciates the flavor, small but different bites and wants to indulge rather feel up a stomach.
I personally applaud the kitchen)
small but very delicious unique dishes which I would not consider Italian cuisine but more like New American. I loved it.
Giusto restaurant in Newport provided the perfect culmination to our culinary journey, following visits to several other notable establishments in the area (Thames Street Kitchen, The Lobster Bar, Yagi Noodles, Mother Pizzaria, and La Vecina Taqueria you can read my reviews for each one of them). Our evening commenced with the exquisite Mad Honey and Dirty Vodka Martini cocktails, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The bee cocktail, a delightful blend of specially distilled tomcat gin, apple cider, honey from a Vermont orchard/distillery, and Cynar, was a masterpiece of balanced flavors. To begin the night, we indulged in a dozen RI Oysters, Ricotta Frittelle, Supli al Telefono, and the Scotch Meatball. The appetizers were nothing short of exceptional, each bite transporting us to the idyllic landscapes of the Italian Dolomites. Moving on to our main courses, which included Street Corn Ravioli, Rigatoni, Roasted Eggplant, and Smoked Brisket, we were consistently impressed by the presentation, quality, and sheer deliciousness of each dish. The chefs at Giusto skillfully combined diverse ingredients to craft a truly unique Italian fusion experience.
For dessert, we savored gelato in all its delectable forms. The chef's surprise addition of an off-menu fusion fruit salad left us in awe and is a must-try addition to their offerings. Our evening concluded with the delightful Espresso Martini, adding a perfect finishing touch to our memorable dining experience.
In summary, Giusto restaurant in Newport is a must-visit for all food enthusiasts. Their fusion of Italian and American cuisine, coupled with impeccable craftsmanship, inventive flavors and excellent top-notch service, left us thoroughly impressed and eager to return.
Great vibes here with decent food selections. Squid ink seafood pasta tastes really good. It’s home made pasta with fresh seafood. Fried calamari with squid ink breaded as well. It’s different from the original ones that normally serve in the restaurants. I also love the tomato salad and snow pea salad as well. Everything taste fresh here with good indoor and outdoor seating atmosphere. Well decorated here as well.
I'm in wild shock. A half-empty restaurant, but we were put on a high table with three children.
In terms of food, it's not a feast... it's a shame to cook such a terrible cappuccino for an Italian restaurant. I didn't like the desserts at all, it was the first time I encountered such terrible food in an Italian restaurant. My Italian blood froze in my veins. I'm upset.
What an experience. We did the freestyle chef’s tasting and it was seven courses of deliciousness. If you’re coming on a weekend make reservations early. If you’re walking in it’s open seating and the full menu at the bar.
Every time I come to Newport stopping at Giusto is a must for casual drinks and gourmet quick bites. I love the atmosphere, the staff is well trained and the food is delicious, I love the small tapas and because they are petit you can try a whole bunch of them. Highly recommended.
Ate here twice the same day since it's right where our hotel is :)
The food was great both times . Our dinner server Salvador was exceptional . We own a cafe and id make him a manager in no time :)
The location is right overlooking the water with the boats, is picture perfect:)
Very good experience .
